LEH Mourns Scholar and LCV Columnist Michael Mizell-Nelson

We mourn the loss of Dr. Michael Mizell-Nelson, a friend, University of New Orleans professor, champion of public humanities and frequent contributing writer for Louisiana Cultural Vistas and KnowLA. Michael served as the food history columnist for the magazine, and was the recipient of an LEH grant in 1995 to fund a documentary, “Streetcar Stories,” about the history of New Orleans’ public rail system. Last week the LEH featured several of Michael’s columns on www.louisianaculturalvistas.org. He will be greatly missed by all who love his hometown, New Orleans.
