March 22, LCV Sponsors Photographers, Culture Bearers Roundtable

As festival season approaches, professional and amateur photographers in New Orleans prepare to hit the streets in search of images that reflect the city’s robust, diverse culture. On Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m., three veteran photojournalists and two culture bearers will discuss the ways that citizens can interact, document, and share photographs for the benefit on Louisiana artists on both sides of the lens. This free event takes place at the Louisiana Humanities Center, 938 Lafayette Street, and is sponsored by Louisiana Cultural Vistas magazine and Zack Smith Photography.

Musicians Big Chief Juan Pardo of the Golden Comanche Mardi Gras Indians and Voice Monet join photographers Erika Goldring, Zack Smith, and Eric Waters for a conversation moderated by Louisiana Cultural Vistas’ Brian Boyles. The discussion will focus on the evolution of “street” photography since the 1970s, and the possibilities for respectful and healthy relationships between photographers and culture bearers.
