Prime Time Participates in NOLA Back 2 School Fest
On July 26, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities proudly donated 1,000 children’s books from our Prime Time book series to support NOLA Back 2 School Fest, an annual school supply and backpack giveaway hosted by Shell, STEM NOLA, and Xavier University of Louisiana. The event aimed to equip local K-6 students with essential tools for the upcoming school year, and the Prime Time books will encourage families to read together at home.
A total of 4,000 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to families during the event. Each backpack included a favorite Prime Time title such as Follow the Drinking Gourd, Ira Sleeps Over, The Lorax, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Why the Sky is Far Away, and Why Mosquitos Buzz in People’s Ears and a bookmark with open-ended questions to encourage family discussion, reinforcing Prime Time’s mission to promote literacy and family engagement through shared reading experiences.
Shell has long been a generous supporter of Prime Time programs across Louisiana. This continued partnership ensures that thousands of families each year have access to community-based family literacy programs that lay the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning.
