Uncle Earl: “Apply now!”

The application period for the LEH’s 2014 Rebirth Grants began September 1 and will close October 1. These grants mark the resumption of the LEH grants program, previously suspended due to state funding cuts. Since 1971, the program has invested more than $25 million in support of organizations, artists, educators and scholars who explore the unparalleled history and culture of our state.

Rebirth Grants range from $500 to $5,000. Eligible projects include new and continuing scholarly research about Louisiana; public humanities programs that involve audience participation and discussion; documentary film; photography and radio projects; digital humanities projects; assistance with publication projects and educational initiatives. Special emphasis is given to projects that generate new content that can be incorporated into Louisiana Cultural Vistas magazine and KnowLA, the Digital Encyclopedia of Louisiana, two LEH programs that make the humanities available to the general public.

All applications must be submitted via the LEH’s online grants system. For more information, interested groups should email LEH Director of Public Relations and Programs Brian Boyles.
