May 13: “Museum on Main Street” Pitches in Homer

The Smithsonian is here! After a smashing run at the Old Post Office Museum in Winnsboro, the “Hometown Teams” exhibition opens at the Claiborne Parish Library in Homer on May 13, with an opening reception honoring the legendary Homer High School Pelicans “Iron Men” team, and the storied football rivalry between Homer and Haynesville. The “Iron Men” earned their name in 1957 when the team reached the state championship game despite fielding just 18 players.
