On July 8, the Press Club of New Orleans held its annual dinner to announce the winners of the 2017 Excellence in Journalism awards. Two digital projects took home 1st place prizes.
“An Ignatian Journey,” a mobile map and audio tour of the sites and sounds of John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces, won 1st place for Digital Innovation. Developed by LEH’s Romy Mariano in partnership with LSU Press, the project was made possible by the 2016 Pulitzer Prizes Centennial Campfires Initiative.
“Geographer’s Space,” a web series featuring geographer Richard Campanella, received 1st place for Special Section – Digital. Based on Campanella’s columns in Louisiana Cultural Vistas, the series is produced by LEH’s Christopher Robert.
