KnowLouisiana.org Debuts “An Ignatian Journey”
This month, KnowLouisiana.org debuted “An Ignatian Journey,” a walking audio tour and story map of A Confederacy of Dunces, John Kennedy Toole’s 1981 Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Using GIS technology for mobile devices to trace the fictional adventures of Ignatius Reilly, the novel’s quixotic protagonist, and author John Kennedy Toole’s life in New Orleans, the map creates a digital experience of the city through historical and contemporary photographs, interpretive text by LSU scholar Cynthia Nobles, and narration by New Orleans native and poet Chris Champagne.
Developed in partnership with LSU Press, “An Ignatian Journey” was made possible by the 2016 Pulitzer Prize Centennial Campfires Initiative, a program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Prizes in 2016. Visit here to start your journey.
