Grants Available for Programs with Louisiana Poet Laureate
The LEH offers grants for organizations interested in hosting programs with state poet laureate Ava Leavell Haymon.
Haymon is a nationally recognized poet and teacher. She presents poetry readings and writing workshops, in Louisiana and nationwide. She has taught poetry writing at LSU and worked for many years as Artist in the Schools in East Baton Rouge Parish. Currently she teaches private classes in Baton Rouge and directs a writers’ retreat center in New Mexico. Her four full-length collections, The Strict Economy of Fire, Kitchen Heat, Why the House is Made of Gingerbread and Eldest Daughter are published by LSU Press.
