Federation of State Humanities Councils and LEH Board of Directors Issue $85,000 Matching Gift Challenge
In response to recent funding cuts, the Federation of State Humanities Councils, with support from the Mellon Foundation, has issued matching grants of up to $50,000 for the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and every other humanities council across the U.S. to encourage and empower local funders, individual donors, and others to contribute. To amplify the impact of this gift, the LEH Board of Directors will match an additional $35,000 in donations made through December 31.

“LEH’s programs reach all 64 parishes and preserve jobs, improve educational and family outcomes, and support the hundreds of cultural organizations that make Louisiana the unique and beautiful place we call home. These are essential and real impacts to the quality of life in Louisiana,” LEH President and Executive Director Miranda Restovic said.
“The matching challenge provides a way for people who care about Louisiana’s important cultural resources to step in and support their local communities. This support from Mellon, the LEH Board of Directors, and the public comes at a critical time and will assist us in our stabilization efforts of core operations and programs.”
Gifts to LEH support public humanities programming across the state, including 64 Parishes magazine and encyclopedia, the Institute for Louisiana Culture and History, and Prime Time Family Reading, as well as your local library, museum, and community festival.
With steep federal funding cuts, this vital work is at risk. Will you stand with us and make a gift today to keep Louisiana culture thriving?
