April 14: Meet Peter Cooley, Louisiana Poet Laureate

April is National Poetry Month, and Louisiana’s poet laureate Peter Cooley will make appearances throughout the state as part of his two-year term. On April 14, The Louisiana Center for the Book will present the sixth annual “Just Listen to Yourself” reading, hosted by Cooley and featuring Jack Bedell, former Louisiana poet laureate Darrell Bourque, Mary Katherine Brake, Gina Ferrara, Lara Glenum, Kelly Harris, Julie Kane, Donney Rose, and John Warner Smith. The event takes place at 12:00 noon at the State Library of Louisiana Seminar Center, 701 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge.

Cooley will also present a reading on Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Metairie, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Avenue.
