Museum on Main Street Arrives in Braithwaite

The Smithsonian is coming to Louisiana this month. On June 23, the Museum on Main Street “WaterWays” traveling exhibition arrives at Phoenix High School in Braithwaite, kicking off a six stop tour of the state. The exhibition, which examines the role of water in American life, is supported by grants from the LEH made possible by the Walton Family Foundation. Click here for a full list of tour stops.

This marks the eighth Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition brought to Louisiana by LEH since 2001.

Part of a two-year effort to raise awareness of the challenges facing communities along Louisiana’s imperiled coastline, the exhibition is accompanied by four documentary films commissioned by LEH. Three of the films will air on Louisiana Public Broadcasting tonight, Wednesday, June 6, at 7pm. Click here for the channel in your region.
