Photographer Zack Smith opens his new gallery

On Saturday, Oct. 14, frequent Louisiana Cultural Vistas contributor Zack Smith celebrates the opening of his new photography studio and workspace this month. To celebrate this new space, Smith will premier his ongoing landscape photography series “The Battlefield Oak” in a portfolio of seven new photographs. The Zack Smith Photography Studio and Gallery is located at 4514 Magazine St. in Uptown New Orleans.

Over the course of one year, Zack visited and photographed the sentient oak tree that presides at the Historic Chalmette Battlefield, site of the Battle of New Orleans. Through the seasons of the south and his creative eye, Zack documented this tree and its yearly evolution. What he saw was a changing landscape both in nature and in his own life as a new resident of St. Bernard Parish
