Be a Sport! Subscribe to Louisiana Cultural Vistas
Horse racing, marching bands, a bicycle craze, and the stories of hometown heroes in Homer, Natchitoches, Ruston, and Winnsboro. Where can you read about the history of Louisiana sports, as told by Louisiana writers and photographers? Right here!
The summer issue of Louisiana Cultural Vistas is dedicated to “Hometown Teams,” a touring exhibition produced by the Smithsonian Institute and the LEH. The new issue releases June 1, and includes stories by Alan Broussard, Conni Castille, Richard Campanella, Gwendolyn Knapp, Lacar Musgrove, and Ben Sandmel, plus a look at Wynton Marsalis’ Pulitzer-winning oratorio “Blood on the Fields,” by Dr. Ibrahima Seck of the Whitney Plantation. Our cover story is a photo essay on the LSU Bengal Brass Band by L. Kasimu Harris.
