Five Questions for the Lt. Governor Candidates

In Louisiana the Office of the Lieutenant Governor oversees the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, an integral force in our state’s cultural life. Louisiana Cultural Vistas magazine recently sat down with the two candidates in the November 21 run-off to ask 5 questions about their plans for the next term. We thank Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and former Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser for their time.

5 questions for the candidates: 

  1. Please tell us your vision for increasing the visibility and sustainability of our state’s museums and libraries.
  2. As lieutenant governor, how will you ensure that visitors to Louisiana learn about the diverse cultural offerings across all 64 parishes?
  3. How can the private sector work with Louisiana’s cultural organizations to preserve our culture, and vice versa?
  4. In 2018 New Orleans will celebrate its Tricentennial. What ideas can you offer to make this anniversary a statewide commemoration?
  5. You’re throwing a party and can invite three Louisiana musicians (or bands) to play. Who do you pick?
