June 16: Free Screening of “Slavery By Another Name”
On Tuesday, June 16, the Louisiana Humanities Center hosts a free screening of Slavery By Another Name, an acclaimed documentary directed by Sam Pollard. The event is co-hosted by Le Musee de f.p.c. and The McKenna Museum of African American Art. Scholar Jari Honora will introduce the film at 6pm.
The screening marks the LEH’s fourth and final installment in the Created Equal series, a national film project of the National Endowment for the Humanities to commemorate the anniversaries of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation and the 1963 March on Washington. The June 16 event at the Louisiana Humanities Center also honors the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth holiday, observed on June 19. Click here to read more about the film.
