Tulane University and LEH Partner to Host Music Rising Educator Institute

Attention educators!  Join us in New Orleans this summer for an exciting professional development opportunity, co-sponsored by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and Tulane University.

Gather with educators from across the U.S. for an in-depth, cross-curricular investigation exploring the development of culture through the evolution of New Orleans music – the most dynamic, continuous tradition in the nation.

Expand your curriculum with classroom-ready lessons aligned to national, state and Common Core Standards in English/Language Arts and Social Studies, and gain practical tools to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

Participate in hands-on workshops led by experienced educators and hear from leading scholars and artists. Attend a special, intimate performance by the world-renowned musicians of Preservation Hall, and have a chance to interview band-members!

All participants will receive:

• CEUs (Louisiana residents) and/or Certificate of Completion
• Lesson plan resources supported by the Music Rising Website
• CD recordings of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band
• T-shirt from New Orleans Center for the Gulf South
• 1-year subscription to Louisiana Cultural Vistas magazine
