Beyond Our Walls, an exhibition of John Scott’s work by The Helis Foundation John Scott Center, is now open at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. The exhibition invites children to look inside his work, use their imagination, and contemplate how they can carry out Scott’s mission of passing it on. The installation is made possible by The Helis Foundation and supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the RAC. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Folklife Village at the Rougarou Fest is a free, immersive area of the festival grounds where the rich traditions of South Louisiana come to life.

From traditional crafts and music to dance, storytelling, and regional cuisine, the Folklife Village offers festivalgoers the opportunity to see, hear, taste, and participate in the cultural practices that define our bayou communities.

Dr. Jeffery U. Darensbourg will explore the language and culture of the Atakapa-Ishak. The Ishak are an Indigenous people who have lived in southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas since precolonial times.
