PRIME TIME in New Orleans 2016 School Expo

When the New Orleans education community comes together, PRIME TIME staff is ready to represent. The Urban League of Greater New Orleans hosted its 10th annual Schools Expo at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Saturday, February 13. The PRIME TIME staff hosted a community resource booth, sharing details about PRIME TIME programs, their successes, and opportunities to participate in programs throughout the metro area with local educators and parents in attendance. The prize wheel, book giveaways and information-sharing combined to make the experience a winning one for participants.

The Urban League’s goal for the Expo is to allow parents and guardians of children pre-K – 12 the opportunity to learn about the new enrollment process; learn more about the Louisiana Student Scholarship (voucher) Program and eligibility requirements; apply to public schools in New Orleans, including public charter schools; meet with school representatives; access community resources; enjoy free food and festivities; and receive free uniform vouchers, backpacks, and school supplies. By providing a one-stop shop, the Expo offered parents the opportunity to learn about most school options in New Orleans, thereby creating a more equitable process in school choice, and building a brighter future for the city’s children.
